Taniaisanactress,43.Thoreis15,amisfitinasmallvillageatthenortherntipofGermany.Atthebeginningofwinter,Taniaescapesfromhernumblifetothevillage.Theymeet.Shedecidestostealhimfromhisparents.TheactressTaniatravelsfromMunichtoavillageinthenorthofGermany.Theskiesaregrey,justliketheseaandthewinteryplains.Herfeelingsarealsocoveredinagreyveilofmist.Herpainfulpastmakesitimpossibleforthisforty-somethingtofeelanythingatall.Thearrivalofthestrangerisimmediatelynoticedinthetight-lippedcommunity,butsheishardlywelcome.OnlytheteenagerThore,whoseimaginationistoomuchforthisno-man’s-land,hascontactwithher.Afragilebanddevelopsbetweenthem-attraction,rejectionandoccasionallysexuallycharged.ThorerevealsaneedinTania,oneshedidn’tknowshehad.Shedecidesto‘steal’Thoretocometotermswithherownloss.Roughisadirectingdebutfilmedwithgreatpoiseandwithasharpeyeforthisbeautifulyetslightlydepressinglandscapeandthepeoplewhoinhabitit.Thecamerafirstfunctionsasadetachedobserver,thenasanaccomplice,alwaysveryclosetoTania.
